At some point during the trial, he realizes his client really did it.

In the middle of all this, the two of them head to New York for Thanksgiving weekend. Frank’s plan is simple—and dangerous.

As a gay man, I try to keep up with queer films like this as much as I can. I’ve gone through the usual cycle: meeting people on apps, getting into relationships where I can’t tell if we’re actually together or if I’m just someone convenient. I’ve more or less seen that whole spectrum.

So when I watched Pillion, I went in expecting “a slightly edgy gay movie,” and not much more. But by the time the credits rolled, what stayed with me wasn’t the eroticism at all. It was the much more painful story of power dynamics, submission, and being “the convenient guy” that quietly kept punching me in the gut.
